If I first buy an academic version of a program (ie Cs4) can i then upgrade when Cs5 comes out?

Academic version is a lot cheaper for adobe programs. Then doing a upgrade is cheaper. Can I buy the upgrade and then have a full unrestricted program of cs5?

You can buy the academic version if you are qualified as a student. And yes, it is upgradeable but it may cost somewhat more to do the retail upgrade if you are no longer a student.

And the academic version DOES NOT EXPIRE. Technically, once you are no longer a student, you are not supposed to use that version for commercial purposes, and when you upgrade, you would go the retail path. But the academic version is a full version and can be upgraded.
